And as always, he delivered a non-skippable album and a cinematic music video. “Haegeum” truly is a phenomenal continuation of the Agust D storyline.

Speaking of cinematic… The “Haegeum” MV is filled with details and references to iconic films, past music videos, and more. Check out all the details you might have missed the first time watching the MV…

1. Reference to the Joker

The shot at the end of Suga with his head out the car’s window appears to be inspired by the Joker in The Dark Knight film, which is highly likely as Suga also uses the character’s famous quote, “Why so serious?” in his 2020 song “People.”

The shot is also similar to one in Agust D’s “Daechwita” MV.

2. Parallels to the “Daechwita” MV

3. Parallels to Scarface, specifically Tony Montana

Suga in the bathtub references Tony Montana in the film Scarface. While Montana dies in the tub, Suga survives and kills the other version of himself.

Also another theory: maybe the ‘Daechwita’ MV was about the present confronting the past Agust D.

When the King was killed, his scar healed. (Hence the 2nd photo)

And maybe the Haegeum MV tells us about the rise of the King that led to his downfall. pic.twitter.com/MfjdeiAf61

4. The symbolism of the police inclusion

the villain agust d being seen freely walking out of a police station and the police saluting him on the way out… it looks like him calling out corruption and showing how the rich controls the law pic.twitter.com/BMSohHAY1x

5. The chopsticks

Suga used the same chopsticks to both kill and eat.

EATING WITH THE SAME CHOPSTICKS HE JUST KILLED SOMEONE IS INSANE MIN YOONGI pic.twitter.com/9VidVP42Kj

— yely⁷ D-DAY (@bichwi) April 21, 2023

The chopsticks being red was also symbolic.

I really like the symbolism of the red chopsticks because he uses it to both eat AND kill. You kill to eat and you eat to live. Our own existence and survival is based on this never ending cycle. #Haegeum #AgustD_DDAY pic.twitter.com/B5GEa3DRnE

Not to mention the irony of him wearing jade beads all at the same time.

I don’t know if Yoongi did this intentionally, but it’s funny that he’s wearing what I think are jade beads which symbolize harmony and balance and then proceeding to k word somebody with those red chopsticks. pic.twitter.com/YoYWsbqSBw

6. Suga is a tangerine thief.

He stole his favorite fruit.

he stole… tangerines? pic.twitter.com/E60PAg0Lpr

7. The fish

If you thought it was strange that Suga laughed at the fish, it was symbolic of his realizing that he is a lot like it. Just like a fish in a bowl, he has no privacy.

i love the symbolism in this so much, the whole idiom “live in a fishbowl”, Here hes like laughing at himself he realizes the fish is living the same way he is. He cant escape being observed, so he sits observing himself pic.twitter.com/2oDv7XU4Al

8. Suga is the king and the boss.

In “Daechwita,” Suga raps, “I’m the king. I’m the boss.” Now, both are killed, making him both.
