Asia’s Top 5 Most Popular K-Pop Acts Revealed In Government Survey
The Global Hallyu Trends survey was conducted again this year by the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE), and the results for 2023 have just been released. The survey uncovers how Korean cultural content is perceived around the world. It included 25,000 men and women between the ages of 15 and 59 from 26 different countries.
All regions of the world were taken into consideration, with the results for Asian countries being as follows.
1. China
IU leads the top 5 acts in China with 6.7% of the pollers. EXO and PSY follow second with 5.5% each. BIGBANG‘s G-Dragon is third with 5%, and Girls’ Generation occupies the fourth spot with 4.9%. BLACKPINK wraps up the top 5 with 4.7%.

2. Japan
Another big market for K-Pop, Japan’s top 5 is led by BTS with 30.4% of pollers. TWICE occupies the second spot with 11.7% and Kara takes third with 4.8%. BLACKPINK sits fourth with 3.4%, while Girls’ Generation is fifth with 2.6%.
3. Thailand
BLACKPINK leads with 35.1% with BTS following second at 10.3%. BLACKPINK’s Lisa is third, enjoying 9.1% of the votes, and GOT7 take fourth with 8.1%. The group’s rapper Jackson wraps up the top 5 with 2.1%.

4. India
Enjoying 42% of the votes, BTS leads the top 5 most popular K-Pop acts in India. BLACKPINK takes the second spot with 6.3%, followed closely by BTS’s vocalist Jungkook and his 6%. The renowned soloists IU and PSY take the fourth and fifth spots, with 3.4% and 3.3% respectively.

5. Indonesia
BTS occupies the first sport with 34.1%, while BLACKPINK takes second with 25.3%. In third place sits Super Junior with 3.4%. The group’s labelmates juniors NCT and EXO take the fourth and fifth spots with 2.5% and 2.2% respectively.

6. Vietnam
Vietnam is yet another country BTS leads the popularity top 5, this time with 27.6%. BLACKPINK takes second place with 15.9% and BIGBANG third with 9.3%. In fourth place sits Girls’ Generation with 4.9% and the top 5 is wrapped up by IU with 2.9%.

7. Malaysia
Malaysia’s top 5 is led by BLACKPINK who enjoyed 28.9% of the votes. BTS follows as second with 26.2% and BIGBANG is third with 4.2%. IU takes the fourth spot with 2.9%, while TWICE occupies fifth with 2.2%.
